Fabric Care & Preservation
A little care goes a long way in preserving the beauty of your saree.
Cleaning
- Dry Cleaning: Professional dry cleaning is recommended for delicate silk, organza, tissue and handloom sarees.
- Washing: Avoid machine washing, soaking or harsh detergents.
Handling
- Delicate Fabrics: Handle organza, tissue and fine handloom weaves gently. Avoid pulling, tugging or rough handling.
- Pins & Accessories: Avoid sharp pins and excessive pinning on delicate fabrics.
Blouse Stitching
- Fit: Avoid tight blouse stitching, especially with tissue and linen fabrics, as it can stress the weave and cause damage.
- Lining: Use double lining with 2x2 cotton fabric for better support and durability.
Protection
- Perspiration: Use sweat pads to protect delicate fabrics from perspiration.
- Perfume & Chemicals: Avoid spraying perfume, deodorant or other chemicals directly onto the saree.
- Ironing: Use low heat and a protective cloth. Avoid direct high heat on zari, embroidery and delicate fabrics.
Storage
- Storage: Store in clean, dry, breathable cotton or muslin covers. Avoid prolonged storage in plastic.
- Folding: Refold periodically and avoid storing sarees in damp or humid spaces.
Good to Know
- Natural Weaves: Minor variations in texture, weave and finish are natural characteristics of handloom and natural fabrics.
Handle with love. Preserve for generations.
Timeless weaves. Stories to cherish.
